Improving the quality of life with educational and recreational opportunities for individuals with spinal cord injuries.

The Model System Knowledge and Translation Center (MSKTC) is a national center that helps facilitate the knowledge translation process to make research meaningful to those with Spinal Cord Injury, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Burn Injury. In previous articles, we have featured the Factsheets on Autonomic Dysreflexia, Managing Pain, Wheelchair Information, and more.  The next resource we would like to highlight is Pregnancy After Spinal Cord Injury

Having a spinal cord injury (SCI) does not affect your ability to become pregnant, carry, and deliver a baby naturally, so your decision to have children is made in much the same way as anyone else. You consider the demands and challenges of parenting and how you might manage them.

MSKTC outlines some things to consider if you want to become pregnant and what to expect at all stages. We highly recommend you check out this guide and their library of spinal cord injury care factsheets.  You can check them out at https://msktc.org/sci/factsheets/pregnancy-and-women-spinal-cord-injury
