The Model System Knowledge and Translation Center (MSKTC) is a national center that helps facilitate the knowledge translation process to make research meaningful to those with Spinal Cord Injury, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Burn Injury. While it is impossible to teach you all there is to know about how a spinal cord injury (SCI) affects the body and the recovery afterward, and these factsheets include some essential information to help you on your journey after SCI.
These factsheets are intended to be a starting point for understanding the normal functions of the spinal cord and how those functions might change after SCI. The impact of injury is different for everyone, so it is impossible to answer every question of interest. However, these fact sheets will answer a few common questions.
