In a world where access to essential medical equipment can be life-changing, the Donated Items Program, powered by the United Spinal Association Northeast Ohio Chapter, is making a real difference—one wheelchair, catheter pack, and mobility aid at a time.
This program was created with a simple but powerful mission: to provide free medical equipment and supplies to individuals with spinal cord injuries or related disorders who may not have the financial means or insurance coverage to obtain what they need. For many, these donated items are not just tools—they’re the key to greater independence and dignity.
♻️ How It Works: A Community Supporting Its Own
Whether you’re donating or receiving, the process is easy and community-driven.
📍 Storage Location
All items are safely stored at:
Parma Self-Storage
9425 Brookpark Rd, Parma, OH 44129
🤝 Want to Donate? Here’s How:
If you have gently used or new medical equipment or unopened medical supplies, you can help!
Simply contact our Equipment Manager, Megan Hammond Nechols, via email or phone. She’ll gather some quick details and schedule a drop-off time at the storage unit.
After the donation is received, it’s added to an inventory spreadsheet and shared online to help those in need find what they’re looking for.
✅ Donation Guidelines:
- Supplies (e.g., catheters, chux pads) must be in unopened packaging.
- Equipment must be in working condition or come with a clear explanation of any issues. The recipient assumes responsibility for any necessary repairs.
🧡 Need Equipment? Here’s What to Do:
Reach out to Megan via call, text, or email, and she’ll help you schedule a time to visit the storage unit and pick up what you need.
Before taking home the item, you’ll sign a Release of Liability Form, acknowledging that you’re accepting the equipment “as-is” and understand any potential risks involved.
This system keeps the program running safely, fairly, and with transparency for everyone.
🌟 Why It Matters
The Donated Items Program isn’t just about physical items—it’s about empowering individuals, reducing health disparities, and building a community that refuses to let finances stand in the way of independence.
Every donation you give—or receive—adds to the cycle of hope and support.
