Improving the quality of life with educational and recreational opportunities for individuals with spinal cord injuries.

Now that the cold and chilly weather is slowly transitioning to warmer temperatures that spring and summer bring, it presents the perfect opportunity to step outside and enjoy it. Luckily, Cleveland offers many adaptive activities that allow anyone to participate. From hand-cycling, kayaking, or participating in team sports, there is something for everyone to do this spring and summer. The organizations below offer all types of activities for all interests. 

The United Spinal Association of Northeast Ohio organization website outlines some of the activities offered by the Cleveland Metroparks for handcycling and kayaking. You can find these in any park near you. They also host socials where you can enjoy handcycling for free and meet some new people too. Explore the link below for more information.  

Adaptive Sports Ohio offers community and interscholastic sports to play for all ages throughout the year. For the spring and summer months they offer power wheelchair soccer, sled hockey, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby, handcycling, track & field, road racing, wheelchair softball, wheelchair tennis and wheelchair football. The organization called 3 Trackers of Ohio is a completely volunteer-based group where they pair you up with a volunteer or mentor with the activity that you are interested in participating in. They offer water skiing, cycling, snow skiing, and kayaking. You will be provided with instructions as well as the equipment to participate. Adaptive Pickleball is an organization that provides the opportunity to play pickleball. They host play days where you meet up and play pickleball for free on those days. They even have volunteers and coaches to teach and improve your play. People of all diverse abilities will be able to enjoy this sport. Explore the link below for more information.
