There’s nothing better than spending a summer afternoon outdoors with friends, good food, and plenty of opportunities to stay active. The United Spinal Association Northeast Ohio (USANEO) Chapter invites you to join us for our annual Handcycle Picnic in the Park!
Whether you’re new to handcycling, have been riding for years, or simply want to connect with others in the spinal cord injury community, this event is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and experience adaptive recreation in a fun, welcoming environment.
Event Details
Date: Saturday, August 15, 2026
Time: 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Location: Cottonwood Reserved Shelter
Rocky River Reservation
Fairview Park, Ohio
What to Expect
We’ll be firing up the grill for lunch, enjoying yard games, and spending the day connecting with friends old and new. Most importantly, attendees will have the opportunity to try a variety of adaptive handcycles in a relaxed, supportive environment.
Never ridden a handcycle before? No problem! Experienced volunteers will be available to answer questions and help you get started. Handcycling is a fantastic way to improve cardiovascular health, build upper-body strength, explore the outdoors, and enjoy an active lifestyle.
Borrow a Handcycle Through Our Lending Program
If you discover that you enjoy handcycling, you may be able to take a handcycle home that same day through the USANEO Handcycle Lending Program! This program allows individuals to borrow a handcycle so they can continue riding, build confidence, and determine which style works best for them before making a long-term investment.
It’s a great opportunity to experience the freedom and fun that adaptive cycling can provide.
Important Reminder
Anyone planning to ride a handcycle during the event must complete the Handcycle Picnic Liability Waiver before participating. If you’re bringing family members or friends who would also like to try a handcycle, please be sure to share the waiver with them before the event. (We will have a QR Code to submit electronically on the day of the event.)
We Hope to See You There!
The Handcycle Picnic in the Park is more than just an afternoon outside—it’s an opportunity to build community, stay active, and discover new possibilities through adaptive recreation. Bring your family, invite a friend, and join us for a day filled with fresh air, great food, laughter, and the chance to experience handcycling for yourself.
We can’t wait to see you at Cottonwood Reserved Shelter on August 15!
