Improving the quality of life with educational and recreational opportunities for individuals with spinal cord injuries.

The Model System Knowledge and Translation Center (MSKTC) is a national center that helps facilitate the knowledge translation process to make research meaningful to those with Spinal Cord Injury, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Burn Injury.

Last newsletter, we featured the Factsheet on mental health awareness.  This month, we wanted to feature a source on adaptive sports and recreation with the summer months among us.

The MSKTC has a factsheet on the importance of adaptive sports and recreation and the benefit it brings to our lives.  The factsheet covers how to get involved in adaptive sports and the mentoring relationships it can foster.  Further, they list different organizations that offer adaptive sports.  MSKTC also has a podcast about adaptive sports and recreation that can be found on their website.

We highly recommend you check out these factsheets, as well as their library of factsheets, related to spinal cord injury care.  You can check them out at https://msktc.org/sci-topics/adaptive-sports-and-recreation
